Apple Releases iOS 5.0.1 with Bug Fixes for Battery and Other Issues

Today, Apple released the first update to iOS 5.0 in the form of iOS 5.0.1. A certain percentage of users have experienced very poor battery life with iOS 5.0 and this update addresses that issue as well as addressing some other bugs and adding some functionality to some devices. (more…)

Do you think it is a coincidence that the biography of Steve Jobs and the story of Amazon.com are coming out a few days apart? I think not! It’s been sixteen days now since Steve Jobs has passed away and it is still fresh in many of our minds. A good friend of mine asked me point blank, “did you cry?”

The first news apps are starting to show up in Newsstand and on my iPhone, the first one to show up was the NYTimes app. So far it looks nice. I am looking forward to actual updates coming through.

Along with the release of iOS 5 for mobile devices, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 update, and iTunes 10.5, Apple has also released Apple TV Software Update 4.4 (based on iOS 5) which also includes new features for the 2nd generation Apple TV.

Apple has released the newest version of the iOS operating system in the form of iOS 5.0. This release adds an impressive number of new features including iMessage, iCloud compatibility, Twitter integration at the system level, the vastly improved Notification Center, Safari with Reading List, Newsstand, improved Mail support, and more. This is the most significant release of iOS yet.

Yesterday, Apple released the latest version of iTunes in the form of iTunes 10.5. This release is essential in order to support both today’s upcoming release of iOS 5 and iCloud. In addition to these major changes there are some slight cosmetic improvements as well to indicator icons.
