iTunes 10.5 Released with iOS 5 and iCloud Compatibility

Yesterday, Apple released the latest version of iTunes in the form of iTunes 10.5. This release is essential in order to support both today’s upcoming release of iOS 5 and iCloud. In addition to these major changes there are some slight cosmetic improvements as well to indicator icons.

The wait is finally over and the iPhone 4S has been announced with dual-core A5 processor, 8 megapixel and much improved camera, Siri intelligent voice assistant, iOS 5, and iCloud. Launches on Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB sizes for $199, $299, and $399. Available for pre-order October 7th and is available on the 14th.

Cradlepoint has been hard at work releasing great products lately. Yesterday, two more routers based on the new NetBSD platform were released. The IBR600 and IBR650 are the first models in the new COR series of integrated broadband routers. Both of these models include a built-in 3G EVDO Rev A modem as their cellular connection and provide enterprise-level features including GPS support.

VMware Fusion 4 Released as the Second Product to Offer Lion Virtualization

Today, VMware released VMware Fusion 4 for Mac. The biggest new features are full support and integration with Mac OS X Lion, performance and graphics optimizations, and Lion virtualization. In order to achieve these new features and performance, VMware Fusion 4 is now a 64-bit Cocoa application.

Cradlepoint 3.3.0 Firmware Released with New Enterprise Features for CBR400, CBR450, CTR35, MBR95, and MBR1400

On Tuesday, Cradlepoint released a new version of its firmware for the new NetBSD-based routers which are the CBR400, CBR450, CTR35, MBR95, and MBR1400. The major new features are GPS support for a large number of modems, ability to load balance two LTE or WiMAX connections, true VLAN support, routing without NAT, and Modem Data Usage tracking. This 3.3.0 release marks the addition of a substantial number of new features and is the most feature-packed release yet.

Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac is first to Offer Lion Virtualization

Ever since Mac OS X 10.7 Lion was released, we have been looking forward to the ability to virtualize up to two instances of Lion on a Mac running Lion. Unfortunately, at launch, there was no way to accomplish this. Now, with the release of Parallels 7 for Mac, Lion can be virtualized.

On Tuesday, Apple released the first update to its flagship Mac OS X Lion 10.7 operating system. The update, which comes in three flavors, “includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability and compatibility of your Mac.” In addition, Apple is also now shipping the OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive which allows those unable to download Lion from the Mac App Store to still upgrade to Lion.
